Changing a standard layout to a diagonal.
Same room as the previous tutorial, but with all the drama of a diagonal look. Similar to a standard installation, with a few minor adjustments, the striking diagonal look is easy to achieve.

By making a few minor variations from the standard straight installation, the energy of a diagonal layout enhances a room and adds movement.

Determine the center of the room, just as you did for a standard installation.
You'll be measuring your tile slightly differently here; instead of 5 tiles, measure 4 tiles in a square diagonal.

Add your grout joints to the measurement, just like a standard installation, as you did before; but use red chalk to mark tile lines at intersecting points.
Take your measurement from step one above, and add 1/4" for your grout joints.

Now you're ready to install a diagonal layout! The hardest part for this type of installation is measuring the tile cuts, so be sure to use the MeasureRIGHT™ Pro to get accurate, fast results.
